Dr. Samantha Shields, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Samantha Shields grew up on a hobby farm in Harvard, IL, where she developed a deep love for animals and agriculture. Her early years were filled with experiences in 4-H, working with chickens, horses, gardening, and exploring her artistic side. As a dedicated member of FFA, Dr. Shields cultivated a strong foundation in rural life and agriculture.
She went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Illinois, graduating in 2011 as a proud Illini. Initially, she aspired to be a dairy veterinarian, but life had other plans. In the winter of 2011, Dr. Shields moved to Monon, IN, and in 2013, she purchased Monon Veterinary Clinic (MVC) from Dr. Carl Hites Jr., DVM, continuing her journey in veterinary care.
Today, Dr. Shields lives on a farm in Buffalo, IN, with her husband, Craig, and their four daughters. Together, they share their lives with a variety of animals, reflecting Dr. Shields’ lifelong passion for animals. Her practice and personal life continue to embody the values she learned growing up, blending veterinary care with her commitment to rural living.
